About Reversi
Reversi (also known as Othello) on an 8×8 board. Place a disc so that it traps a line of your opponent's discs between two of yours, and every trapped disc flips to your colour. Corners never flip, so fight for them. When neither player can move, the player with more discs wins.
How to play Reversi
- Black moves first. Legal squares are highlighted.
- Place a disc so that one or more straight lines of rival discs sit between it and another of your discs.
- All outflanked discs flip to your colour.
- If you have no legal move, your turn passes.
- When the board is full or nobody can move, the most discs wins.
Tips and strategy
- Corners can never be flipped, so they are the strongest squares.
- Avoid the squares next to empty corners.
- Having fewer discs mid-game often means more options later.
