Knight's Tour
Jump the knight to every square exactly once.
About Knight's Tour
A chess puzzle more than a thousand years old. Put a knight anywhere on the board, then jump in L-shapes to visit every square exactly once. Green dots show your legal moves and visited squares are numbered so you can see your route. Choose a board from 5×5 to 8×8, undo freely, and ask for a hint that finds a working next jump from where you are.
How to play Knight's Tour
- Tap any square to place your knight.
- Jump like a chess knight: two squares one way, one square sideways.
- Never land on a square twice.
- Visit every square to complete the tour.
Tips and strategy
- Visit the edges and corners early. They're hardest to reach later.
- Prefer the jump that leaves the fewest onward moves (Warnsdorff's rule).
- On 5×5, start in a corner: some squares have no full tour.
