Repeat the Melody
Listen to a tune on the piano, play it back, and it grows by one note each round.
About Repeat the Melody
A musical memory game played on a real one-octave piano. The game plays a short melody and you play it back on the keys. Get it right and the tune grows by one note, built like a real melody with steps and the odd leap. Easy uses five friendly notes with the keys lighting up, Normal uses the full major scale, and Ear Only switches the lights off, so you play by sound alone. You have three lives and one replay per round.
How to play Repeat the Melody
- Pick a difficulty and press Start.
- Listen (and watch the keys light up, except in Ear Only).
- Play the same notes back in order on the piano.
- Each round adds a note. A wrong note costs a life and replays the tune. Three lives in all.
Tips and strategy
- Sing the tune back in your head before you play.
- Notice whether each step goes up or down: most moves are small.
- Save your one replay for the long rounds.
Repeat the Melody FAQ
How is this different from Simon?
Simon uses four coloured pads. Here you play a real piano octave, and the sequences are melodies, so musical memory and ear training help.
Do I need sound on?
Yes. These are listening games, so turn your volume up. Headphones work best, and the game warns you if OFF PLAY's sound is switched off.
Is Repeat the Melody free to play?
Yes. Repeat the Melody is free in your browser on OFF PLAY, with nothing to download or install.
