Four short whodunit mysteries to solve in your browser: a stolen chess trophy, a sabotaged bake-off, a midnight art forgery and a violin that vanished during a concert. Each case has four suspects with alibis, a stack of evidence cards and a timeline. Rule people out, pin the clues that matter and make your accusation: name the culprit, the motive and the piece of evidence that breaks their story. Get it right first time for full points.

How to play Detective Case Files

1. Open a case and read the briefing.
2. Compare each suspect's statement with the evidence and the timeline.
3. Rule suspects out and pin the evidence that matters.
4. Accuse: choose who did it, why, and the piece of evidence that proves their story is false.
5. Solve on the first accusation for 300 points, the second for 200, after that 100.

Tips and strategy

• Look for the statement that a piece of evidence makes impossible.
• Times matter. Check every alibi against the timeline.
• Not every odd detail is a clue: some are red herrings.
